Securing bulkhead F22 to the jig with 2 screws, in addition to the clamps. This will allow me to remove F22 after fuselage side alignment and return it to the same location later. Left side of fuselage side sanded to align with top of front bulkhead F22 at WL
Front bulkhead F22 raised by 1/16″ to be aligned with WL (water line) 23 at the top and confirmed alignment with centre of jig. The right side of the fuselage side was sanded down so the side would be level at WL 23 at the front. i.e. the top longeron would be level with the top …
The fuselage sides were clamped into the temporary firewall (rear of fuselage) and bulkhead F22 was clamped in position at the front of the fuselage such that the top of F22 is at WL 23 and the centreline of F22 is aligned with the centreline of the jig. This will ensure that the top of both fuselage side longerons …
Installed a wooden brace with the glue gun to support the firewall so it remains vertical during fuselage assembly. I also replaced the clamps holding the bottom of the temp firewall to the 2x4s with a couple of wood screws.
