Citabria Update – December 28, 2017

CAVOK all day at CYPQ.  I arrived at noon to warm up the engine and the cockpit then clear the snow.  By early afternoon the outside air temperature had warmed up to -17 deg C.

The Citabria started no problem then I taxied to the run-up area holding short of runway 27.  The left magneto was running quite rough during the magneto checks.  I tried it several times with no improvements.  The RPM drop was > 250 RPM and the delta between the left and right magneto drops was 200 RPM so the flight was cancelled and the aircraft returned to the hangar for troubleshooting on a “warmer day”.
