Cozy Experimental Aircraft Update – November 10, 2018

Glassing the NACA Scoop:

Workshop temperature 24 degC and humidity 46%.

Mixed a batch of epoxy using 152g resin and 58g hardner.

Wet out the 2-ply BID cloth.

Mixed some dry micro and applied it to the foam joints and any pits in the foam.

 

Mixed some micro and applied it to the NACA scoop foam area.

Placed the BID cloth in the scoop and scissor trimmed the edges.

Applied peel ply over the BID cloth.

Cozy Experimental Aircraft Update – November 4, 2018

Sized paper (templates) to fit in the forward and aft scoop sections such that it will be 1/4″ past the edges and >3/4″ onto the bulkheads.

Cut 2 ply of BID cloth to the size of the templates.

Cut peel ply.

 

Workshop temperature 24deg C and humidity 52%.
Mixed a batch of epoxy using 152g resin and 58g hardner.

Wet out the 2-ply BID cloth for the aft scoop section.

Mixed a small batch of dry micro to fill any gaps in the aft scoop foam and to fill the corners.

Mixed a batch of micro to cover the foam. Used epoxy to wet the bulkheads where they overlap with the cloth.

 

Placed the 2-ply BID cloth in the scoop and scissor trimmed the edges to ~1/4″ past the edges.

Applied peel ply and more epoxy.

Cozy Experimental Aircraft Update – November 3, 2018

Installing the aluminum inserts into the landing gear bulkheads.  The inserts will aid in securing the landing gear cover in place.

Radius the corners around the joggle so that the BID cloth will better fit into the joggles.

Workshop temperature 24 deg C and humidity 51%.

A small batch of flox was mixed using 32g resin and 12g hardner.

Flox was placed inside each aluminum insert location and the inserts were installed flush with the landing gear bulkheads.
